To test this out, I turned off the triggers to my flashes and set them all to S2. I tested S2 mode at the same shoot, S2 is optical trigger with pre-flash suppression. Expect it to be less effective outdoors in the sun.

I did a shoot in a basketball gym, and to test it out a little, placed one in the top of the bleachers on the opposite side of the court. Optical slave mode works as intended, with good range.
